BOEING ONBOARD – VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
Create a flight attendant in a virtual environment that utilizes cutting-edge technology to enhance the inflight experience for passengers, as well as improve crew productivity.
Enhance the in flight experience by creating products that use emerging technologies. Flight Attendants have a lot of tasks and duties that take them away from passengers creating a less personable flight journey.
The students were split into teams, each focusing on a different phase in the flight journey. The teams each created several concepts that were then refined and validated through interactions with stakeholders. Each team interviewed flyers and flight attendants several times throughout the semester. The teams also visited CVG to get an idea of scale and to identify possible areas for design oporrtunities.
Bo is a virtual assistant combined with a virtual interface which all passengers will have access to on-board Boeing planes. Bo has the ability to provide passengers with important information, as well as keep them entertained during long flights. Bo can also lead passengers through the initial safety demonstration in a more engaging way. Bo can even help flight attendants provide better customer service tailored to each passenger.
There are five screens within Bo’s interface from a passenger’s perspective. Flight Information provides continuous flight updates as well as a map of the airport. The Safety emonstration walks passengers through the demo with interactive holograms. Entertainment contains all of the in-flight entertainment, as well as games passengers can play with Bo during their flight. The interface also has a web browser and a food menu for passengers to use.
