Throughout each project studio, students are asked to design within design. User-centered research is at the core of Live Well Collaborative’s design process and it is critical that the students are able to obtain these insights. Rather than using a rigid interview guide, a ring of method cards has been developed by the students to aid in drawing out insights from consumers. The method cards span the entire design process and have been categorized by the three phases: research, ideation, and refinement. Every single card describes an activity that can be used to creatively get consumers and groups to think outside of their norm.
Each semester the new students can reference the current method cards and get inspiration for other design activities. The new tools and activities developed are then added to the ring of method cards to use by future students. This expandable model allows for continued growth and innovation for insight generation.
